The National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) has initiated a move to tackle the challenges of global warming, climate change and deforestation in Katsina state.
Consequently, the NCCC, in collaboration with Atmosfair and Climate Sustainability firm, has launched a ‘Save80 Clean Cookstoves’ that would reduce indiscriminate felling of trees for firewood, global warming and protect users from lung cancer.
The DirectorGeneral of the Council, Dr. Salisu Dahiru, while unveiling the Save80 Clean Cookstoves in Katsina, said deforestation causes global warming.
Earlier, the Manager for Business Development of Atmosfair and Climate Sustainability, Musa Lawal, said the firm invented the Save80 Clean Cookstoves to address global warming.
He said the company in partnership with the government focuses on reducing the emission of carbon dioxide which is one of the greenhouse gases that causes global warming.
“We are working with governments and private sector to reduce the menace. The stove has two pots, emit less smoke and save firewood by 80 per cent, which means saving desertification by 80 per cent,” he said.
