In a move to strengthen the intelligence capabilities of the Police Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has ordered the deployment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to head the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Commands across the nation.
This decision reflects the IGP's commitment to improving the effectiveness of the Intelligence Department at all levels, aiming to address the rising crime rate in the country as part of his vision statement. Upon assuming office, the IGP reactivated the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a Department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni to lead the new Department of Force Intelligence.
The newly appointed Senior Officers are tasked with leveraging intelligence-based assets to combat crimes and criminal activities within their respective areas of responsibility. IGP Egbetokun emphasizes the importance of professionalism and the application of their extensive experience to strengthen the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.
This deployment takes immediate effect, marking a proactive step towards bolstering internal security.
