Katsina United yesterday defeated Bendel Insurance by a lone goal in matchday 14 of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.
The game which held at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium kicked off in a frenzy with Chidera Eze showing the intent of Katsina United to win the game.
The home side created several chances to score but finally got the breakthrough through a penalty kick in the 74th minute expertly dispatched by Chidera.
Following the win, Katsina United are 9th with 17 points while Bendel Insurance are 5th with 20 points.
Meanwhile, Enyimba is expected to have a tough time against Rivers United just as it has been in their previous meetings when they clash today.
Lobi Stars are one of the few clubs in the NPFL that have not dropped a point at home this season. They have 11 goals scored, and conceded 4 goals while winning all six of their games as they take on Doma United, one of the league’s biggest killers in Lafia.
As a result of their tight defence and the team’s tactical prowess under Coach Onigbinde’s direction, Doma United has gone nine games without giving up a goal.
The ‘Savannah Tigers’ look good to extend their unbeaten run and dominance over their Northern rivals.
In the same vein, Heartland’s coach, Kennedy Boboye will be up against one of his former sides Akwa United today at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
The manager will be playing against his old team for the first time since he departed in 2022.
Both sides have met 18 times in the last 11 years and Heartland have won eight times leaving Akwa United to scoop seven wins with three draws amongst them.
The last time Heartland lost to Akwa United at home was in 2019 when former NPFL highest goalscorer Mfon Ufon scored a 72nd-minute winner.
Ever since then, the ‘Naze Millionaires’ have won their last two home games against Akwa United however with a goal margin.
With no victories in their previous five games, Enugu Rangers have been having a difficult time lately. Their three losses and two draws have dropped them to 13th place with 15 points. They were truly taken aback by their late-game loss to Plateau United in one particular match.
They now have to play with everything they have to beat Sporting Lagos in Awka. Fidelis Ilechukwu needs to brace his team up against Sporting Lagos who will be hoping to get their second consecutive point at the Oriental region.
