Former Katsina Governor, Emirs Of Daura, Bichi, Others Honoured By Katsina Varsity

KATSINA – Former Katsina State Governor, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has been awarded a Honorary Doctorate degree in Law (Honoris Causa) by the Federal University Dutsinma for his contributions to the establishment and development of the institution.
Similarly, some few days ago, the Faculty of Law, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina gave the former Governor an award for his support towards the establishment of the school.
In the same vein, the former Governor Barr Shema, also received an award of excellence in recognition of his passion for education from the Association of Katsina State Foreign Trained Health Workers (AKSFTHW) who are now in various health sectors of the state.
It would be recalled that in 2010 about 800 students were placed on a scholarship scheme to various foreign schools to read medicine, surgery and other pharmaceutical courses in Egypt, Jordan and Niger Republic and are now productive in delivering effective health care in the state.
Barr Ibrahim Shehu Shema, in his remarks on behalf of the awardees at the Federal University Dutsinma, thanked residents of the state for the recognitions given them, saying “the honour belongs to Allah who made all things realistic”.
“As we received these honorary degrees, we are mindful of the responsibility that comes with them. We are aware that we are not only being honoured for our past accomplishments but also for our potential to contribute to the future of our country and humanity.“
He said they are now challenged to use their knowledge, skills, and talents to help Nigeria overcome its contemporary challenges of insecurity, high unemployment, poverty and spiralling inflation accompanied by the ever-rising cost of living among socioeconomic indicators, which he hoped and believe that the current administration of President Bola Tinubu will address urgently.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state in his address congratulated the awardees describing it as a honor well deserved.
“This is a honor well deserved to people who have used knowledge for the betterment of our çountry”.
To the graduates, Radda enjoined them to see their achievement as a testament to hard work, resilience and determination, urging them, to carry the values and lessons learned into their future endeavors.
“Embrace innovation, seek continuous improvement and be catalysts for positive change in our society. I encourage you to be the lifelong learners, to be adaptable, and use your skills and knowledge to uplift our dear state and country”, he concluded.
King (Dr) Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the Amanyanabo of Opobo and Chancellor of FUDMA, earlier in his speech, appealed to Nigerians to pray for peace and the unity of the country, “because without peace, nothing can be done or achieved”.
The Chancellor, while congratulating the recipients, hoped and prayed that they would bring their wealth of experiences and influences to contribute to the growth and development of the university.
Other recipients of the honorary degree awards include Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk CFR, Emir of Daura, Dr of Letters (Honaris Causa) and Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, Emir of Bichi, Dr of Business Administration amongst others.
