The Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, will award First Class degrees to a total of 112 graduands during the seventh and eight combined convocation ceremony of the school on Saturday.
The institution’s Vice- Chancellor, Prof Armaya’a Hamisu Bichi, who briefed the press on Thursday at the take-off campus in Dutsinma said that a total of 4,365 students will graduate during the programme, alongside 401 post-graduate students and 11 PhD students.
He noted that the management has made adequate security arrangements with the relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors during the convocation.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the school is expected to eventually begin full utilisation of facilities at its permanent site from December 2023 following discussions with the National Security Adviser.
“I had a meeting with the National Security Adviser and he had since directed the relevant agencies to beef up security on and around the campuses.
So, by December, we will fully occupy the permanent site,” he said.
"He also spoke on some of the achievements recorded in the school in the past three years that he assumed office.
As he put it, “when I assumed office, we had three faculties running 20 programmes and only three of the programmes had full accreditation.
“But today, the faculties have increased to 13 running over 100 programmes and all of them have full accreditation.
“We have also built faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Law, Natural Resources and we are currently constructing the faculties of Education, Arts and Environment and we have used our internally generated revenue to build three female hostels within the period.”
