Katsina State Government Reaffirms Dedication to Education Overhaul

In a resolute statement, the Katsina State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to revitalizing the education sector within the state. The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe, conveyed this assurance during the second combined convocation ceremony of Al-qalam University Katsina, standing in for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

Alh. Lawal Jobe extended congratulations to the graduates, highlighting Governor Radda's administration's significant achievements in transforming the state's education sector. He pointed out pivotal measures, such as elevating the Department of Higher Education to a full-fledged Ministry and renaming the State Ministry of Education to the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, as steps toward repositioning Katsina's education sector for progress.

Encouraging the graduands, the Deputy Governor emphasized the practical application of acquired knowledge in their future endeavors.

During his address, Prof. Nasiru Musa Yauri, the Vice Chancellor of the University, disclosed that the combined convocation ceremony conferred Bachelors of Arts, education, and science degrees upon 9,894 graduates. Among them, 104 achieved first-class honors, 1,910 secured second-class degrees, and 125 obtained various master's degrees.

The Pro-Chancellor, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, highlighted Al-Qalam University's distinction in offering the most affordable tuition fees among private universities in Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, and Chairman of the Islamic Foundation, Alhaji Bilya Sanda, for their support in the university's growth, particularly in physical infrastructure.

A notable moment in the ceremony involved the conferral of honorary doctorate degrees upon distinguished personalities, including the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, Dr. Najib Suleiman Adamu of Kazaure, Chairman of BUA Group of Companies, Alhaji Abdussalam Rabiu, and Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura.
