Census: NPC, NIS Collaborate on Data Integrity

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, FNSA, has conducted a formal visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters in Abuja on August 10, 2023.

This visit is a significant element of the NPC’s ongoing initiatives to forge collaborations with prominent data-generating organizations in the nation, aimed at enhancing data integrity and credibility.

The primary objective of the interaction was to fortify the synergy between the NPC and the NIS, particularly concerning the collection of data for the upcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census.

During their meeting, both the NPC boss, Nasir Isa Kwarra and the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola discussed potential avenues for the NPC and NIS to harmonize their efforts, guaranteeing the accuracy and currency of the census data.

Additionally, they deliberated on the feasibility of exchanging relevant data between their respective agencies

Wura-Ola conveyed the NIS’s unwavering commitment to supporting the NPC in conducting a seamless and successful census.

She assured the NPC of the NIS’s readiness to supply all essential data and assistance, affirming their joint commitment to upholding the accuracy and credibility of the census.

In response, Kwarra expressed his gratitude to Wura-Ola for the NIS’s valuable support and conveyed his confidence in the synergistic collaboration between the two organizations.

He highlighted the shared mission of enhancing data integrity and credibility in Nigeria, underscoring its significance in facilitating effective governance and development planning.
