The Grassroots Mobilization Network (GMN), a support group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his recent remarks directed at the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the group described Wike’s comments on Senator Mark regarding the condition of roads in the FCT as “misplaced and irresponsible,” urging the minister to put past political disagreements behind him and focus on governance.

The statement, signed by the GMN Secretary-General, Usman Bala Idris, alleged that Wike’s repeated criticisms of Senator Mark and other senior political figures stem from lingering grievances linked to his loss at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention several years ago.

According to the group, the FCT minister has continued to dwell on the outcome of the convention rather than moving on from the political setback.

The organisation also suggested that recent political developments within the ADC may have intensified tensions, pointing to the emergence of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, a fellow Rivers State politician, as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

GMN maintained that personal political differences should not be allowed to overshadow national issues, calling on political leaders to engage in constructive dialogue and focus on advancing democratic values and good governance.
