Phase3 Telecom Reaffirms Commitment to Expanding Broadband Access Across Nigeria

Leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, Phase3 Telecom, has reaffirmed its commitment to driving broadband penetration across Nigeria, highlighting over two decades of investments in digital infrastructure aimed at enhancing connectivity nationwide.

The Executive Chairman of the company, Stanley Jegede, made the disclosure while receiving members of the Executive Committee of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers during a courtesy visit to the firm's Abuja office.

Jegede said Phase3 Telecom had spent the last 23 years building critical infrastructure that supports connectivity for millions of Nigerians, including mobile network operators, educational institutions, businesses, and other sectors of the economy.

According to him, the company has established infrastructure across all 36 states of the federation, playing a significant role in supporting the operations of telecommunications service providers and expanding internet access across the country.

“We are a responsible organisation that has been in existence for twenty-three years. Our primary focus has been supporting broadband penetration, and we have successfully delivered on that mandate,” he said.

He noted that while much of the company’s work takes place behind the scenes, many of the mobile networks relied upon daily by Nigerians depend heavily on its infrastructure.

Jegede emphasized that Phase3 Telecom remains committed to further expanding broadband access and supporting efforts by government and regulators to bridge the nation’s digital divide.

“Our goal is to continue increasing broadband penetration across the country. We are working closely with government and regulators to ensure that we achieve even higher levels of connectivity and digital inclusion,” he stated.

The telecom executive also linked broadband development to socio-economic growth, stressing the importance of reliable access to information in a digitally connected society.

He said that as more Nigerians gain access to connectivity for economic and social activities, there is also a need to support institutions that promote accurate and credible information.

Jegede commended GOCOP for its role in advancing responsible journalism and factual reporting, pledging the company’s support for initiatives aimed at strengthening media professionalism and public access to trustworthy information.

“Good journalism is good for the country. Nigeria is better off because of it. We should continue to explore opportunities for collaboration that advance both national development and informed public discourse,” he added.

Earlier, the President of GOCOP, Danlami Nmodu, appealed for the support of Phase3 Telecom for the Guild’s Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold on October 8, 2026, in Lagos.

Nmodu described GOCOP as a platform of professional online publishers committed to ethical journalism and credible reporting.

He noted that increased investment in media organisations would enhance their capacity to undertake investigative journalism, special reports, and other public-interest reporting projects.

“The more resources available to media organisations, the greater their capacity to undertake investigative and developmental journalism. Supporting quality journalism ultimately strengthens democracy, promotes accountability, and advances good governance,” he said.

The GOCOP delegation included the Guild’s General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo, and Publicity Secretary, Kemi Yesufu.

Phase3 Telecom is regarded as one of Africa’s leading independent aerial fibre-optic network infrastructure and telecommunications services providers, with operations across the ECOWAS region and strategic partnerships serving clients in more than 400 locations globally.
