Governor Radda Swears in New Bakori Council Chairman Following Predecessor’s Death

Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, on Wednesday officially sworn in Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde as the new Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, following the passing of the former chairman, Hon. Aminu Dan-Hamidu.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted at the Government House in Katsina and was presided over by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who represented the Governor.

Hon. Barde’s appointment came barely 48 hours after the demise of Hon. Aminu Dan-Hamidu, who died on Monday, June 9, 2025. The late chairman was described as a dedicated public servant whose death is considered a great loss to the people of Bakori.

Faskari expressed deep condolences on behalf of Governor Radda and the entire state government. He described the late Aminu as a committed leader and prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul, asking that his final resting place be in Aljannah Firdaus. He also extended prayers for the family, friends, and associates of the deceased.

The Governor’s representative urged the new chairman to serve with integrity and diligence, calling on him to work in harmony with all stakeholders for the progress and unity of the local government.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde pledged to continue from where his predecessor stopped. He assured the people of Bakori that all ongoing projects and policies initiated by the late chairman would be pursued and completed.

He also committed to maintaining the relationships the late chairman had with key stakeholders, affirming that cooperation and continuity would be his guiding principles in governance.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Head of Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Fadila Dikko Kurfi.

Others in attendance included Khadi Kabir of the Katsina State Sharia Court of Appeal, the Chairman of the Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON) in Katsina State, represented by Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude, chairmen from Mashi and Kusuada LGAs; Deputy Chairmen of other local councils; Hon. Rabiu Gambo Bakori, family members, friends, and members of the general public.
