President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze following the discovery of another alleged fake government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), deepening a growing scandal that has raised fresh concerns about accountability in the nation's public service.

The latest development emerged after investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered what was presented as the “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office,” an organisation allegedly operating without lawful authorization.

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), disclosed the findings on Friday while briefing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Aliyu, the discovery was made during ongoing investigations into the controversial fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, allegedly run by Adeyemi Matthew. The anti-corruption agency's probe reportedly uncovered links to another questionable office that had been allocated space within the premises of the OSGF despite lacking legitimate government status.

The ICPC chairman revealed that the office space was allegedly secured and occupied illegally, prompting immediate action from the Presidency.

In response to the findings, President Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of Nwabueze to facilitate further investigations into the operations of the purported agency and the circumstances surrounding its establishment within a key government institution.

The President also moved swiftly against senior officials believed to be connected to administrative lapses surrounding the matter. He directed the immediate suspension of three Permanent Secretaries  M.S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

The latest revelation comes as authorities intensify efforts to unravel the network behind unauthorized agencies and offices allegedly operating under the guise of federal government institutions. The investigation into the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has already attracted national attention, with anti-corruption agencies seeking to identify individuals who may have exploited government structures for personal gain.

With the arrest order and suspensions now in effect, attention is expected to shift to the outcome of the ICPC's investigations, which could expose wider irregularities within government establishments and lead to additional disciplinary or criminal actions.

The Presidency has yet to provide further details on the specific roles of those implicated, but officials say investigations are continuing and that all individuals found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
