This book has been a work in progress for years, meticulously researched by the Katsina History and Culture Bureau. Although it is yet to be published, its significance prompted us to seek insights from one of its authors, who graciously shared their thoughts with us.The book is about the distinguished sons and daughters of Katsina state that gave and those still giving their contribution to the development of Katsina State in particular and the Nation at large. The book is a compendium of life achievements of personalities, titled: “WHO-IS-WHO in the History of Katsina State. It is aimed to showcase the types of sacrifices made by dedicated Katsina state indigenes in nation building, for the benefits of present and future generations.The book consists of an introductory section and eleven chapters. The introductory part contains the history of Katsina state from the earliest time to contemporary period. Other aspects of the Katsina State rich cultural heritages mentioned include its Geography, Climate, Vegetation, Agricultural Potentials, Cottage industries, recreational facilities, Mineral resources, Health Institutions, Educational Institutions, Historical Sites and Monuments, Traditional festivals and sports e.t.c. There are some historical maps, such as a 1902 map that shows the approximate situation of fiefs sub-fiefs in Katsina Emirate before the Colonial Conquest of 1903. There is also a 1930 map of Katsina district, a map of Katsina province when it was created in 1934. There is a 1954 map showing the districts and village areas of Daura emirate. There are other maps of Katsina State showing the seven (7) local government areas which were inherited when the state was created in 1987, the 14 local government areas that were created in 1989, 24 local government areas that were created in 1991 and the current state map showing the 34 local government areas which were created in 1996.CHAPTER ONE: This chapter contains the details of some of the past sovereign of Katsina and Daura emirates (Fathers of the land) who built varitable legacies of statesmanship and military glory, upon which the identity of Katsina state and its people was established. It is titled, Traditional Rulers, War Heroes, District Heads and Honourary title holders. This chapter consist of the following: Emir of Katsina Malam Ummarun Dallaje, Emir Abubakar Saddiq, Emir Muhammadu Bello, Emir Ahmadu Rufai, Emir Ibrahim, Emir Mallam Musa, Emir Abubakar, Emir Mallam Yero, Emir Muhammadu Dikko, Emir of Daura Malam Musa, Emir of Daura Abdurrahman, Emir of Katsina Sir Usman Nagogo, Emir of Katsina Muhammadu Kabir Usman, Emir of Daura Muhammadu Bashar, Emir of Katsina Abdulmumini Kabir Usman and the Emir of Daura Umar Farouk Umar. It is a reflection and celebration on the impressive intellectual, political, social, economic, public service and other facets of life contributions by the dedicated indigenes of Katsina state to national development and humanity. If the book is published it will definitely be an invaluable reference material on who/is somebody in the state and the nation at large.
