Seeing Is Believing: Tinubu’s Aide Showcases Major Infrastructure Projects Transforming Kano

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to driving sustainable development across Northern Nigeria, highlighting a series of landmark projects reshaping Kano State.

Abdulaziz made the remarks during an inspection tour of completed and ongoing federal government projects in Kano metropolis under the initiative tagged “Seeing Is Believing.” The tour was aimed at exposing Nigerians, particularly residents of the North, to key infrastructure projects being executed under the current administration.

Among the projects inspected were the 48-kilometre Kano Northern Bypass Road, the newly constructed Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), the Renewed Hope Agenda Solarisation Project at the hospital, the Zawachiki Interchange Station of the Kano-Maradi railway line, and the Agricultural Incubation Centre being developed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

Speaking during the visit, Abdulaziz said President Tinubu’s decision to initiate new projects while sustaining inherited ones demonstrates a strong commitment to the socio-economic development of the region.

According to him, many of the administration’s achievements remain largely unknown or underappreciated, making public enlightenment necessary.

“A lot of these projects are not getting the attention they deserve. As part of my responsibility, it is important to bring these developments closer to the people, especially those who stand to benefit directly from them,” he said.

Highlighting the Kano Northern Bypass, Abdulaziz described the project as a strategic intervention designed to ease traffic congestion in Kano city while opening up new economic opportunities.

He noted that the road links the Kano-Hadejia Road with the Kano-Katsina Road and is already attracting investors, industries and land developers to the area.

“Development is already taking shape around this corridor. Factories and businesses are emerging, and land acquisition for commercial purposes has increased significantly. This project is not only improving transportation but also stimulating economic growth,” he said.

He commended President Tinubu for approving and funding the project, noting that its rapid progress contrasts sharply with the delays that have plagued many federal projects in the past.

“Historically, some federal projects lingered for a decade or more without meaningful progress. This road was initiated less than two years ago, yet the level of work already completed speaks volumes about the government’s commitment,” Abdulaziz added.

On the Kano-Maradi railway project, he disclosed that construction at the Zawachiki Interchange Station had reached about 80 per cent completion, compared to the estimated 10 to 15 per cent progress recorded before the current administration assumed office.

He explained that the rail line would connect Kano to Daura in Katsina State, Kazaure in Jigawa State and Maradi in the Republic of Niger, creating a vital transportation corridor for trade, commerce and the movement of people.

According to him, rather than abandoning inherited projects, the Tinubu administration has continued to provide funding and support to ensure their completion.

“The administration demonstrated goodwill by sustaining and financing this project. Today, the progress on the ground is evidence of that commitment,” he said.

Abdulaziz further argued that ongoing investments across healthcare, energy, road and rail infrastructure underscore the government’s determination to deliver long-term benefits to Nigerians.

“These are investments that will outlive political cycles and have a lasting impact on the economy and the wellbeing of citizens,” he stated.

As part of the tour, Abdulaziz also visited the Dan-Agundi Interchange Flyover Project being executed by the Kano State Government, describing infrastructure development as a critical driver of economic growth and regional transformation.
