Leading figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have intensified calls for unity within the party, urging members to set aside differences and work collectively toward securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

The APC candidate for the Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, Jimi Odimayo, made the appeal on Friday in Akure while addressing journalists after a reception held in honour of members of the House of Representatives from the state.

Odimayo, who is seeking re-election to the Green Chamber, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their contributions to the party’s nomination process.

According to him, the focus should now shift from internal contests to strengthening the party’s chances at the polls.

“The victory is already secured, so it is time for all members of the APC to come together and work for our party, the president, myself, and for their own future,” he said.

The lawmaker described his relationship with fellow aspirants and party leaders as cordial, stressing that the APC remains a united family despite differing interests during the nomination process.

He urged members to respect the decisions of the party leadership and embrace reconciliation for the continued growth and success of the APC.

In a similar vein, the APC candidate for the Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency, Michael Akintomide, appealed to aggrieved party members to remain calm and uphold party discipline.

Akintomide said the National Working Committee had concluded the nomination exercise and produced credible candidates, warning against actions capable of creating divisions within the party.

“There is no need for agitation. The NWC has spoken, and there is party supremacy. Whatever is being circulated on social media that contradicts the position of the party should be ignored,” he said.

He further urged members to shun protests and focus on building a united front ahead of the elections.

“Let us work together so that we emerge victorious in the forthcoming general elections. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa remains the leader of the party in Ondo State in line with the party’s constitution. The internal disagreements will not affect APC’s chances in the 2027 elections,” he added.

Akintomide expressed confidence that all APC candidates in the state would collaborate to deliver electoral success for the party.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Ondo State chapter of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), Olumuyiwa Asagunla, commended President Tinubu and the APC leadership for what he described as a successful nomination exercise.

He noted that the group had consistently mobilised grassroots support for both the president and the party since its inauguration in 2024 and pledged to sustain the effort as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Asagunla also echoed calls for reconciliation, urging party members to close ranks and place the collective interest of the APC above individual grievances.

The renewed appeals come amid efforts by party leaders and candidates to consolidate support and maintain internal cohesion as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
