Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has announced automatic employment for all indigenes of the state who graduate with first-class degrees from accredited higher institutions across Nigeria.

The governor made the announcement on Sunday during the grand finale of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University, Kano.

Radda said the policy, previously limited to first-class graduates from institutions within Katsina State, had now been expanded nationwide to attract exceptional talents into the state civil service.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at building a highly skilled workforce capable of transforming public service delivery in the state over the coming years.

He noted that recruiting outstanding graduates would help create a civil service that could compete with the best in the country and improve governance through professionalism and innovation.

The governor also highlighted efforts by his administration to support education, including the payment of outstanding scholarship obligations and the increase of bursary allowances for students.

He said the government’s investments in education had contributed to reducing the number of out-of-school children and shielding many young people from social vices.

Radda reaffirmed that education remains a major priority of his administration, citing the recruitment of more than 10,000 teachers, construction of new schools and rehabilitation of learning facilities across the state.

He urged students to remain focused on academic excellence and use their knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of Katsina State.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Haruna Musa-Muhammad, praised the governor’s commitment to education and described him as a leader who prioritises students' welfare.

He also commended the improvement of the state’s scholarship programme and expressed the university’s willingness to collaborate with the Katsina State Government on educational development initiatives.

Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters and convener of the programme, Muhammad Nagaske, said the Students’ Week was designed to promote academic excellence, cultural interaction, talent discovery and stronger collaboration among students.

The event attracted students from Katsina State studying in institutions across Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Borno and other parts of the country. Outstanding participants in sports, academic contests and cultural activities were honoured with various awards and prizes.
