An investigation by Katsina Times has identified Dino Melaye as the individual who created and shared the fake images circulated online, falsely claiming to show the handover of the body of the late Major General Rabe (may his soul rest in peace).
According to the investigation, Melaye also wrote the false caption accompanying the images and posted them on his Facebook page.
Despite extensive efforts, Katsina Times was unable to determine the original source of the AI-generated image before it was shared by Melaye.
Melaye, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allegedly shared the fabricated image and accompanying claim in an attempt to discredit the Federal Government.
As of the time of filing this report, both the image and the accompanying post remained available on his Facebook page.
