'Significant investments have been made to upgrade and enhance our academic environment. We have expanded the scope of our research activities through the newly established Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (RI &D) given it high priority.

"It is worth mentioning that the 2022/2023 academic session proceeded smoothly, adhering to the approved schedule set by the Senate of the University. The first and second-semester examinations were conducted, examiners completed their marking processes, and the results were presented to the Senate Business Committee and ratified by the Senate", Prof. Yauri said.
He explained that the admission process for the academic session has been successfully concluded, through the Central Admission committee and the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) platform. The vice chancellor pointed out that during the period under review, progress has been made on various ongoing projects related to the physical infrastructure of the university.

The completion and utilization of various projects demonstrate the university's commitment to providing modern and functional infrastructure to support its academic and administrative activities". He said.

While highlighting the irrational behind established in the university, professor Yauri recall that the idea for establishing the institution was conceived after the commissioning ceremony of the Islamic University in Niger Republic established by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

He recalled that Al-Qalam University, Katsina, came into being in January 2005 after a license was issued by the National Universities Commission'.

"A time-table drawn by the Academic Advisory Committee ensured the take-off of academic activities in October, 2005 with students in four (4) academic Departments namely: Arabic, Computer Science, English and Islamic Studies.
Prof. Yauri refreshed the minds of just and members of the University community on the institution's vision which is to impart meaningful and relevant knowledge with high moral standard and fear of Allah (SWT) through provision of up to date teaching and research facilities in Informatics, Sciences and Humanities thereby serving as a model to similar institutions in Nigeria while its mission is "to pursue academic excellence in an Islamic, morally sound, efficient and conducive learning environment".
