Delegates from the 34 local government areas of Katsina State have declared support for the governorship ambition of Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The delegates, who visited the senator at his residence on Saturday, said their visit was to reaffirm their commitment to his candidature ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Sadiq Yar’adua said his decision to contest the governorship seat was informed by his desire to contribute towards the development of Katsina State and improve the living conditions of the people.

He said consultations with stakeholders and representatives from across the 34 local government areas influenced his decision to join the race.

The senator recalled that he contested the governorship election in 2023 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that his political aspiration has always been driven by the need to serve the people.

According to him, he personally purchased the nomination form after receiving calls from supporters and political associates across the state urging him to contest.

“What remains now is for every supporter to return to his local government and continue doing the necessary mobilisation. This project is not for personal interest but for the wellbeing of the people considering the hardship they are facing,” he said.

He pledged to operate an inclusive administration anchored on consultations with citizens if elected governor.

“We will run a government for the common people. Just as I consulted widely before taking this decision, we will continue to engage people at the grassroots to ensure that government policies reflect the needs of the people,” he added.

Senator Yar’adua further said his administration would emulate the leadership style of late Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa and late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, whom he described as leaders known for people-oriented governance.

He also appreciated the delegates and supporters who attended the meeting to endorse his governorship ambition.
