Kofar Sauri ward, as history shows, has hosted many groups of people who contributed to the development of Katsina. Among the notable families that settled in Kofar Sauri were the Sullubawa, descendants of Sarkin Tafarki Dahiru. From this lineage came Muhammadu Dikko. There were also the descendants of Abu Kyafi, a famous trader in Katsina during the reign of Emir Dikko (1906–1944), as well as the descendants of Malam Tukur of Kofar Sauri, a renowned Islamic scholar and a close associate of Emir Dikko.
Malam Tukur of Kofar Sauri was the father of Alkali Sada. The lineage of this family in Katsina traces back to Usman Majid, who became the third Alkali (judge) of Katsina after the jihad of Usman dan Fodio, serving from 1894 to 1896 following the death of Alkali Ahmad Hambali in 1894.
ALKALI MUHAMMAD SADA KOFAR SAURI (1896–1978)
Alkali Sada was born in 1896. He was the son of Malam Tukur of Kofar Sauri and the grandson of Alkali Usman Majid. His mother’s name was Nene (Altine), and the marriage between his parents was within the extended family.
He received his Islamic education from his father, Malam Tukur, who was a prominent Islamic scholar of his time.
Alkali Sada began his career as a teacher of Arabic and Islamic studies and rose to the position of Visiting (Supervisory) Teacher before joining the judiciary. During his time as a visiting teacher, he taught notable students such as Alhaji Aliyu B. Saulawa, Alhaji Saidu Barda, and Yusuf Usman Nagogo (Ciroman Katsina), among others. At that time, only Alkali Sada and Malam Abdurrahman Masanawa held the position of Visiting Teacher in Katsina Province in 1944.
Because his father, Malam Tukur, was a close confidant of the Emir, when Usman Nagogo became the Emir of Katsina in 1944, he later brought Alkali Sada into the judicial service around 1950–1951.
Alkali Sada served as a judge in several towns across Katsina, including Dan Aunai in Dutsi, Kayawa, Kaita, and Dutsi (Marusa) in 1958. He was later transferred back to Katsina city around 1960–1961.
Emir Usman Nagogo appointed Alkali Sada as the first Garkan Katsina Judge and a member of the Emir’s council responsible for Sharia affairs in 1961.
Furthermore, after Alkali Muhammad Wada retired as the Chief Judge of Katsina, Emir Usman Nagogo appointed Alkali Muhammad Sada Kofar Sauri as the Chief Judge of Katsina Province on May 28, 1965, a position he held until 1968.
Alkali Muhammad Sada Kofar Sauri passed away on August 12, 1978.
