Former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced his immediate resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a statement, Kwankwaso said the decision followed a careful assessment of Nigeria’s political landscape, which he noted requires a strategic realignment to achieve meaningful change.
He described the move as difficult, considering his prominent role in the party as its national leader and presidential flagbearer in the 2023 general election.
Kwankwaso said he is moving to a new political platform that he believes will better position him to contribute to national transformation.
He expressed appreciation to the NNPP National Chairman, Ajiji Ahmed, members of the party’s National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement for their support during his time in the party.
The former governor added that despite his exit, he remains committed to working with stakeholders to ensure a better future for Nigeria.
