A development-focused group, NG Renewed Hope & Shared Prosperity Platform, has expressed strong support for the Katsina State Government’s proposed integrated housing and agricultural development project planned for Radda and Kankia Local Government Areas.
The group made its position known during a press briefing held on Thursday, which was attended by journalists, including representatives of Katsina Times.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Comrade Shamsuddeen Salisu Na’Alhaji Jibia said the endorsement followed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Katsina State Government and a specialised United States-based company for the construction of modern housing estates integrated with agricultural activities.
According to him, the initiative is designed to enable residents to remain within their local communities while engaging productively in agriculture and related economic activities, thereby improving livelihoods and boosting local economies.
Comrade Na’Alhaji noted that the project differs significantly from conventional housing schemes, as it combines residential development with job creation, food security and rural economic growth. He said the programme would play a critical role in reducing poverty, unemployment and rural–urban migration, particularly among young people.
He further described Governor Dikko Umar Radda as a visionary and committed leader who understands the challenges facing ordinary citizens and prioritises projects with direct and sustainable impact on their welfare, rather than cosmetic developments.
Na’Alhaji added that the partnership with an American firm reflects growing international confidence in the Katsina State Government’s development agenda, while strengthening the state’s profile as an attractive destination for investment and global collaboration.
On the selection of Radda and Kankia as pilot locations, the group said the decision demonstrates the governor’s resolve to decentralise development and ensure that rural communities benefit directly from government programmes.
The organisation called on politicians, stakeholders, traditional rulers, youths and women across the state to unite in supporting the initiative to guarantee its success and contribute to the overall development of Katsina State.
“This project is yet another clear indication that Governor Dikko Umar Radda is faithfully delivering on the mandate entrusted to him by the people with sincerity and genuine concern for their wellbeing,” Na’Alhaji concluded.
The press briefing was attended by members of the organisation, representatives of allied groups and journalists.
