Commissioner Women Affairs Inaugurates State Technical Committee for Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up in Katsina

The Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, has inaugurated the State Technical Committee (STC) for the Nigeria for Women Program (NFWP) Scale-Up Project in Katsina State.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held today, the Commissioner charged the committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, dedication, and a strong sense of accountability to ensure the overall success of the project in the state. She emphasized that the NFWP Scale-Up is a strategic intervention aimed at improving the livelihoods and economic empowerment of women across Katsina State.

According to her, and in line with the Project Implementation Manual, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, will serve as Chairman of the State Technical Committee, while the State Project Coordinator, Hajia Aisha Mohammed Yusuf, will serve as Secretary of the committee.

Membership of the committee cuts across key ministries and agencies. It includes Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Health; Basic and Secondary Education; Commerce and Industry; Budget and Economic Planning; Agriculture; Water Resources; and Finance. Other members are representatives from the Katsina State Development Management Board (KTDMB) and the Katsina State Enterprises and Development Agency (KASEDA).

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the STC and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Alhaji Nura Murtala, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to put in his very best to ensure the successful implementation of the project. He further assured that all relevant line ministries and agencies would be fully carried along in the execution of project activities.

The inauguration was attended by key NFWP staff, including the Head of Operations, Hajia Maryam Hussaini Kaita; Project Accountant; Project Internal Auditor; Procurement Officer; BCC Advisor; BCC Anchor; Project Secretary; as well as the Administrative Officer.

The Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project seeks to strengthen women’s economic capacity, enhance access to financial services, and promote inclusive development across participating communities in Katsina State.
