Buba Marwa’s Leadership Strengthens Nigeria’s Fight Against Drug Abuse

Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has continued to record remarkable successes in the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking across Nigeria.

Observers agree that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrated foresight and commitment to national wellbeing by appointing a disciplined, courageous, and results driven leader to head the agency. Brig Gen Marwa’s leadership has been defined by firmness, transparency, and an unwavering resolve to rid the country of the menace of drug abuse.

Under his watch, NDLEA personnel have intensified operations nationwide, working day and night to dismantle drug networks and bring traffickers to justice. The renewed vigour within the agency reflects a clear message that Nigeria will no longer tolerate the devastating effects of illicit drugs on its society.

Drug abuse, widely acknowledged as a major cause of crime, mental instability, and social decay, has been decisively confronted through a combination of enforcement and public enlightenment. The NDLEA has strengthened awareness campaigns through various media platforms, educating citizens on the dangers and long term consequences of substance abuse.

Notably, women officers have also played active roles within the agency, leading sensitisation efforts aimed at protecting women and families from the harmful impact of drugs, further strengthening the inclusive approach adopted by the NDLEA.
