The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State, Corps Commander Maxwell Kaltungo Lede, was presented with the Humanitarian Service Award of Honour. The ceremony took place at the sector headquarters in Katsina and was conducted by the Association of Indigenous Nigerians Resident in Katsina State (AINRKS), the umbrella body representing non‑indigenes living in the state.
In his remarks, Prince Kunle Awe, JP, President of AINRKS, described Commander Lede as “a man of honour, integrity and a bridge‑builder; a true ambassador of a system known for humanitarian service.” Prince Awe commended the commander’s dedication to the Association and his unwavering commitment to upholding human dignity in the discharge of his official duties.
Since his arrival in Katsina a few months ago, Commander Lede has fostered significant human relations across the state. Colleagues and community members alike have noted his genuine love for humanity and his ability to execute his responsibilities without sentiment, always respecting the dignity of every individual.
In his acceptance speech, Commander Lede said:
“I am deeply humbled
by this recognition. It
is a testament to the collective effort of the FRSC team, our partners, and the people of Katsina who have welcomed us with open arms. My role is simply to serve, to protect, and to foster a culture of compassion on our roads and within our communities. I pledge to continue working hand‑in‑hand with all stakeholders to make Katsina a safer, more humane place for everyone.”
Commander Lede also used the occasion to charge the leadership of AINRKS to forge stronger ties with the state government under the stewardship of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, *Malam Dikko Umar Radda, Ph.D.* He noted that the governor’s inclusive leadership has created an enabling environment where all residents can operate without feeling segregated.
“Katsina is truly the home of heritage and hospitality,” Lede added. “With the governor’s visionary leadership, we have no excuse for not giving our best to this great state.”
The award underscores the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to promote safety, community engagement and humanitarian values within the nation’s road transport sector.
