Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has welcomed the safe return of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami described the release of the students as a major relief to their families and to the entire people of Kebbi State.

He commended the resilience of the girls during what he called “a period of intense fear and trauma,” expressing hope that they would receive the support needed to recover from the experience.

Malami also extended his condolences to the family of the slain Vice Principal who was killed during the attack, noting that his death underscores the growing security threats facing schools and peaceful coexistence across the country.

“His sacrifice in the line of duty will never be forgotten,” he said.

The former AGF urged both the state and federal governments to intensify security measures, strengthen early-warning mechanisms, enhance intelligence sharing, and adopt proactive strategies that would prevent similar incidents in the future.

He stressed the need to ensure that no child is exposed to terror while pursuing education in an era of technological advancement.

Malami reaffirmed the collective responsibility to safeguard every child, school, and community in Kebbi State and across Nigeria.
