The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed a message circulating on social media claiming that the Federal Government has directed the closure of schools nationwide from 24 November 2025.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the viral message did not originate from the Federal Government, the Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognised security agency.
According to the statement, the ministry described the information as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary public panic.
The ministry urged the public to rely only on verified information from official government channels, including the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments and State Ministries of Education, and recognised security agencies.
The statement further advised Nigerians to disregard any announcement or advisory emanating from unofficial or unverified sources, adding that citizens should always confirm the authenticity of information before sharing to help curb the spread of misinformation.
