The Katsina State Police Command has dismissed social media rumours claiming that Nana Abraham, a player of Barau FC, was slaughtered by fans of Katsina United FC during their NPFL Week 12 match at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police described the report as “false, mischievous, and a deliberate attempt to incite public tension and disturb the peace in the state.”

The police confirmed that all players, officials, and staff who took part in the match were safe, and that there was no physical clash between fans and players or officials before or after the game, owing to tight security arrangements.

The statement added that the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) had already investigated the incident and sanctioned Katsina United FC for certain offences, but there was no report or record of any player being slaughtered or killed.

The Command warned those spreading falsehoods to desist, noting that such actions are criminal and punishable under the law.

DSP Aliyu urged the public to rely only on verified sources of information and to disregard the untrue report entirely.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Katsina State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Bello Shehu, to ensuring peace, safety, and the protection of lives and property across the state.
