Governor Radda Inaugurates State Security Council Committee to Look Into Ongoing Peace Deal Between Communities, Bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has inaugurated a State Security Council Committee to look into the ongoing peace deal between local communities and armed bandits in affected areas of the state.

The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who also oversaw the official launching of the council.

The committee, chaired by the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, comprises representatives from key security agencies including the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade, the 213 Forward Operation Base (FOB), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the State High Court, and the Ministry of Internal Security, which serves as the secretariat.

According to the SSG, the committee’s mandate is to look into the progress of the peace deal and provide actionable recommendations to the state government on ways to strengthen and sustain peace in the troubled communities.

While addressing the members, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari commended them for accepting the responsibility and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability across the state.

He further stated that the committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations within two weeks, paving the way for strategic measures aimed at consolidating security gains and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities.
