Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated veteran journalist and publisher, Danlami Nmodu, mni, on his election and inauguration as the new President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda described Nmodu’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his long-standing commitment to journalism and his contributions to the growth and ethical standards of the Nigerian media.
He expressed confidence that Nmodu’s leadership would strengthen the Guild’s role in promoting responsible and fact-based online journalism in Nigeria.
Nmodu, a respected media professional and publisher, was inaugurated after winning 63 out of 71 votes cast in a keenly contested election. The presidency was the only contested position, while other executive members were returned unopposed.
Governor Radda also commended the outgoing President, Dr. Maureen Chigbo, for her selfless service and the progress achieved under her tenure. He expressed optimism that the new leadership would consolidate on these gains by fostering innovation, unity, and professionalism within the online media sector.
He further urged Nmodu and his team to uphold integrity, accuracy, and fairness in their reportage while promoting collaboration between the media and public institutions for national development.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Katsina State, I congratulate Mr. Danlami Nmodu, mni, on his election and inauguration as President of GOCOP,” the statement quoted Radda as saying. “His victory reflects the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues, and we are optimistic his leadership will inspire credibility and unity in Nigeria’s online media community.”
Governor Radda wished Nmodu and his executive council a successful tenure and assured them of his administration’s continued support for initiatives that promote credible and professional journalism for national progress.
