The Matan Ta Dikko Mobilization and Awareness Forum, a grassroots women’s support movement under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, has welcomed over 2,700 women who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling party.

The inauguration of the Forum took place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and was officially flagged off by the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe).

The event, held at the Forum’s headquarters in Katsina, attracted key dignitaries including the Member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Katsina Local Government, Hon. Ali Abu Albaba; Special Advisers to the Governor; Chairman of the Dikko Project, Hon. Musa Gafai; the APC Women Leader, Hajiya Jamila; and a large number of supporters and party faithful.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Dikko Project, Hon. Musa Gafai, described the gathering as a strong sign of growing confidence in Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s leadership among women across the state.

“This event brings together women who have decided to leave opposition parties after realizing that the APC, under Governor Radda, represents the true path to progress. The number of women joining today exceeds 2,700, and their decision reflects trust in the governor’s vision for Katsina State,” he stated.

One of the defectors from the ADC said that the exemplary leadership of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda inspired them to leave their former party and join the APC to contribute to the ongoing transformation of the state.

“The kind of progress we see under Governor Radda motivated us to abandon the ADC and align with the APC through the Matan Ta Dikko Forum so that we can actively support his developmental agenda,” she explained.

Similarly, the Chairperson of the Matan Ta Dikko Mobilization and Awareness Forum, Hajiya Amina Muhammad Rumah—herself a former ADC member—said they left the ADC faction associated with former Secretary to the State Government, Dr Muhammad Mustapha Inuwa, to fully join the progressive movement of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

“We left the ADC for the movement of Dr Dikko Radda out of conviction and faith in his leadership. All the women here have pledged total commitment to the APC and will work tirelessly across communities to promote and support the achievements of Governor Radda’s administration,” she affirmed.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe, expressed satisfaction over the mass defection of women to the APC. He said the development demonstrates growing confidence in the policies and programmes of Governor Radda’s administration.

He highlighted the government’s continuous efforts to strengthen education by sponsoring students abroad, empower women, and enhance security and development across the state.

“Governor Dikko Radda’s government remains steadfast in its mission to uplift women, improve education, and secure the lives and property of Katsina citizens,” he said.
