On Wednesday, October 1, multiple eyewitnesses spotted Fulanin Daji entering the bustling Dutsin-ma market, marking the market day. According to locals, the group arrived peacefully following last week’s peace agreement.

Witnesses told Katsina Times reporters that the Fulanin Daji came in from different routes on their motorcycles. Hungry and in search of food, they stopped to buy meat, bread, and oranges, fueling themselves before moving through the market to purchase other essentials. Notably, the visitors did not carry their weapons openly, nor did they harass anyone.

One eyewitness explained, “You could tell they were from the bush, hungry but respectful. They were clearly seeking food and daily needs.”

After afternoon prayers, the group gathered quietly to retrieve their motorcycles and signaled each other before leaving in small groups back to the bush.

Locals recognized many of the visitors as those they hadn’t seen in town for years, some reconnecting with old friends now acting as commanders between Zamfara and Katsina forests. This visit suggests a genuine desire for peace — even if temporary — and an aim to restore the flow of goods into the bush.

This rare market appearance by the Fulanin Daji shows the impact of ongoing peace efforts in the region, highlighting both the hunger and hope for better coexistence.
