Katsina State Government has presented a strategic business case to the Federal Government for the formal handover of the 10MW Lambar Rimi Wind Farm.
Special Adviser on Power and Energy to the Governor, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, today met with top federal officials in Abuja, including the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, Mr. Mahmuda Mamman, and the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Mr. Jobson Ewalefoh.
Dr. Ahmed outlined the state's strategic plan to complete and operationalize the wind farm through a Special Purpose Vehicle, with direct engagement with the Original Equipment Manufacturer and a structured Power Purchase Agreement with Kano Electricity Distribution Company.
The DG ICRC commended the state's preparedness, expressing confidence that the wind farm could move swiftly to completion once the Special Purpose Vehicle is established.
"The detailed business case reflects a clear commitment to success," Ewalefoh said, noting that the project would generate both electricity and revenue for Katsina State.
The Permanent Secretary, however, praised Governor Radda's political will, describing the initiative as "a major milestone in the state's renewable energy journey and a model for subnational energy transition."
The Special Adviser has been tasked with submitting a formal request to ICRC, accompanied by a detailed business model, to secure a Certificate of Compliance for the wind farm handover.
Once operational, the facility will deliver clean electricity, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth while solidifying Katsina's position in Nigeria's clean energy transition.
