Key political figures and traditional leaders gathered at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House on Wednesday for a high-level Stakeholders' Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democratic framework through inclusive reform.

The event, hosted by the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, attracted prominent stakeholders including his deputy, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso – the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and other top legislators.

Also in attendance were senators, members of the House of Representatives from Kiru/Bebeji and Ungogo/Minjibir constituencies, the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, council chairmen, advisers, and ward councilors.

Traditional rulers, including the Emirs of Kano, Karaye, Gaya, and Rano, as well as religious leaders, representatives of security agencies, and media professionals, also participated in the dialogue.

The forum provided a platform for participants to share regional perspectives and propose amendments that align with the aspirations of Kano citizens. Discussions focused on making the constitutional review process more participatory and reflective of grassroots concerns.

Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Abdullahi Maijama’a, Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano State and Executive Chairperson of Tudunwada Local Government, reiterated her support for the inclusive approach. She emphasized the crucial role local governments must play in shaping governance and reform.

The dialogue marks a significant step in ensuring that the 2025 constitutional review process is grounded in public engagement and responsive to the needs of Nigerians at all levels.
