A former presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, has announced the upcoming launch of his new book chronicling the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, Shehu revealed that the book, titled "According to the President: Lessons from a Presidential Spokesman’s Experience", will be officially launched next week.

He described the 260-page book as a comprehensive and authoritative reflection on Buhari’s eight-year tenure, noting that it is not a personal biography but rather a professional guide aimed at inspiring students and young professionals interested in journalism and public relations.

“The book is analytical, informative, and academic in its approach. It seeks to document historic decisions and achievements of the Buhari administration while also bringing readers closer to the man behind the presidency—how he governed, what he ate, and his dress preferences on certain occasions,” Shehu said.

He emphasized that the publication builds on similar efforts by Buhari’s former aides, such as Femi Adesina, to preserve key moments of the administration’s legacy.

According to Shehu, the book highlights President Buhari’s commitment to integrity and transparency, citing reforms such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Tax Identification Number (TIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), Whistleblower policy, and the National Identification Number (NIN) as landmark initiatives aimed at promoting good governance and reducing corruption.

Shehu also noted that the book is enriched with personal anecdotes and shared experiences from journalists and editors who interacted with him during his time as presidential spokesman.
