Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has been named the Best Performing Governor of the Year 2025 by Aso Multimedia, in recognition of his administration’s achievements in governance, infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment.
The award ceremony, held on June 13, 2025, in Abuja, celebrated Governor Radda’s commitment to transformational leadership, youth development, and sustainable growth. Aso Multimedia described Radda’s leadership as a “benchmark for excellence,” citing his government’s impact on the lives of citizens across the state.
The Governor was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua, and the Director General of Protocol, Alhaji Umar Bishir Ibrahim.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Hajiya Hadiza described the award as “a powerful validation of leadership grounded in purpose, compassion, and accountability.” She emphasized Radda’s people-focused policies and bold reforms across various sectors.
The Commissioner praised the administration’s Community Development Project (CDP), which empowers rural communities to identify and address their own development needs — a model she described as “governance with the people, not just for them.”
She further highlighted gender inclusion efforts, noting the state’s 30% Affirmative Action Policy for women and several empowerment schemes, including:
On healthcare, she noted the renovation and re-equipping of all Primary Healthcare Centres, and the construction of a specialist hospital with MRI and dialysis facilities — the first of its kind in the region.
In agriculture, the administration distributed 40,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer and launched irrigation projects benefiting over 4,000 farmers. A tractor assembly plant is also underway to boost mechanized farming.
Education reforms under Radda include the recruitment of over 7,000 teachers through the S-Power Scheme, and the payment of WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB exam fees for more than 54,000 students.
Security also received attention, with the establishment of the Katsina Community Watch Corps, which has deployed over 1,500 personnel, 12 armoured vehicles, and hundreds of motorcycles to improve safety in volatile areas.
On youth empowerment, the creation of KASEDA with a ₦5 billion revolving fund supports entrepreneurs and MSMEs.
Major infrastructure projects were also listed, including dual carriageway roadworks, 129 kilometres of rural road construction, and the introduction of 40 new buses under a restructured public transport authority.
Dedicating the award, the Commissioner said, “This honour belongs to the resilient women, the hopeful youth, the selfless civil servants, and the everyday people of Katsina State. This success is theirs, as much as it is ours.”
The award event was graced by dignitaries from across the country.
