Dutsinma, Katsina State – Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has pledged to intensify efforts against banditry in Katsina State following a deadly attack on Gobirawa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area that claimed several lives last week.
During a condolence visit to the affected community, Governor Radda strongly condemned the assault and directed the Dutsinma Local Government Chairman to immediately select five community representatives for strategic discussions on strengthening local security mechanisms.
Despite earlier intelligence and deployment of security forces, the bandits launched their attack shortly after troops withdrew. “We acted on the security report, but the criminals exploited the gap,” the governor revealed, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspected informants aiding the attackers. “Community cooperation is key in defeating these threats,” he added.
Governor Radda was accompanied by lawmaker Mohammad Abubakar Khamis and the District Head of Dutsinma, Alhaji Sada Mohamed Sada, during the visit. He reassured villagers of his administration’s determination to restore lasting peace across the region.
In a separate engagement, Governor Radda inspected the ongoing construction of a model “Smart School” in Radda, Charanchi Local Government Area. The project is one of three flagship secondary schools under construction across Katsina’s senatorial zones, aimed at expanding access to quality education for children in rural communities.
Dissatisfied with the pace of work, the governor issued a stern warning to contractors, urging them to expedite completion without compromising standards. “This initiative is crucial to transforming education in Katsina,” he emphasized.
While the governor’s renewed promises have brought cautious hope, many residents are demanding immediate and concrete actions to end the unrelenting violence. As bandits continue to exploit security lapses, communities await decisive measures from the state government to protect lives and livelihoods.
