Katsina Police Arrest Four Suspected Drug Traffickers, Recover Illicit Drugs

The Katsina State Police Command announced the arrest of four suspected drug traffickers on May 16, 2025, during an operation at Kofar Guga garage. The suspects were found in possession of large quantities of illicit drugs intended for smuggling to Niger Republic.

According to a police statement, the suspects Aliyu Idris (23), Abubakar Sa'idu (20), both from Kofar Kwaya, and Abubakar Suleiman (25), Tajuddeen Umar (35), from Sabuwar Unguwa, were intercepted while attempting to transport the drugs to Maradi, Niger.

During a search, officers recovered approximately 5,000 tablets of Exol and 430 tablets of Tramadol from the suspects' possession. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and disclosed that the drugs were supplied by an individual known as Abba from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, who is currently at large.

The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the supplier and are urging members of the public to assist in fighting drug-related crimes by reporting suspicious activities.

CP Bello Shehu, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, commended the efforts of the police operatives and reaffirmed the command's dedication to combating drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the state. He also called on residents to support security agencies with timely information to help maintain peace and order.
