The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Katsina State, Hon. Bello Adamu Safana, has warned against the formation of unauthorized political structures in the name of the party, calling the act illegal and punishable under the law.

Speaking during a press briefing at the party’s state secretariat along Kano Road in Katsina, the Chairman stated that only duly recognized party members are allowed to form political structures within the state. He emphasized that any group or individual found establishing structures without official party endorsement would face legal consequences.

“We want to caution some individuals and groups that are forming structures in the name of SDP. It is wrong and illegal unless such formations are sanctioned by the party. The law does not permit it, and we are ready to take legal action against anyone who engages in it,” Safana said.

The press conference was attended by several key party officials, including Professor Abubakar, Assistant Secretary; Alhaji Mustafa Abdullah Sani, Youth Leader; Alhaji Mustafa Mohamed Kurfi; Alhaji Ali Maiwada Masanawa, Vice-Chairman for Katsina Senatorial District; and Dr. Dansarai Ali Magaji, Deputy Chairman.

In addition to addressing the issue of unauthorized structures, the party announced that it is currently issuing temporary membership cards, with plans to roll out permanent cards within the next two weeks.

“These new permanent cards will replace the temporary ones and will serve to revalidate our membership register,” he explained.

The Chairman also revealed that the SDP is currently in talks with several political groups who are willing to join the party, assuring that the doors remain open to new members.

“We are open and accessible to anyone who wants to join SDP—individuals or groups, at any time. We especially call on the youth to join us in building a party that prioritizes justice, equity, and good governance based on transparency and honesty,” Safana stated.

He concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to fairness, accountability, and inclusiveness in all its dealings, both within and outside the party.

“We will be just and fair to all, whether you're a new member or seeking leadership through the party. Transparency is our foundation,” he added.

The press briefing ended with an invitation to other members of the SDP leadership to offer brief remarks, reinforcing the unity and collective mission of the party leadership in Katsina State.
