Our Impressions of Katsina State Are Overwhelmingly Positive - Bulgaria Ambassador

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged commitment to protect the cultural heritage and dignity of the state's emirates.

The Governor made this declaration during the traditional Hawan Magajiya Fiesta held in Daura Emirate.

Speaking before a distinguished audience that included ambassadors from ten countries, Governor Radda explained the historical significance of Daura as Nigeria's oldest emirate and a vital part of the nation's cultural identity.

"Daura's story is Nigeria's story. Its ancient walls, vibrant festivals, and the wisdom of its people remind us who we are. As we gather for Hawan Magajiya, let us remember: culture is the soul of progress," the Governor stated.

Governor Radda made a firm commitment to preserving the emirate's legacy, saying, "I promise you, we'll keep working to protect this legacy. We'll defend the dignity of our emirates, nurture our culture, and ensure the progress we've made continues. We won't back down. We'll grow stronger, together."

The Governor called for mutual support between leaders and citizens, "Peace doesn't come by chance. It comes when leaders lead with justice, and when the people stand with their leaders. So I beg you, my people—support your leaders. Pray for them. And to us leaders, I say: Let's lead with fear of God and compassion for our people. That's the recipe for lasting peace."

Governor Radda, however, acknowledged the role of the Emir of Daura, HRH Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk in preserving the emirate's heritage.

"Your unwavering dedication to preserving our heritage inspires us all. You are a custodian of peace, a bridge between our past and future," Governor Radda remarked.

To the international guests who graced the occasion, Governor Radda stated, "Your presence here today is a profound honour. You've journeyed far to celebrate with us after the blessed month of Ramadan—to share in our joy, respect our traditions, and stand with us as friends. In Katsina, guests are family, and today, you are part of ours."

In his remarks, the Emir of Daura acknowledged the cheers and homage from 22 district heads and traditional title holders.

Speaking during the fiesta, Finland Ambassador to Nigeria, Sandra Selin described the cultural show as being truly impressive and beautifully organized. He further extended gratitude to Governor Radda for his exceptional hospitality and the opportunity to learn directly from the state's cultural heritage.
