Abuja, Nigeria – Senator Ahmad Lawan, the President of the 9th Senate and representative of Yobe North Senatorial District, has dismissed recent speculations suggesting his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement released by his media office, Senator Lawan described the reports and posters making rounds as "entirely false, baseless, and without merit." He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to the party’s vision and objectives.

"For over two decades in the National Assembly, Senator Ahmad Lawan has remained one of Nigeria’s most consistent politicians, with no history of defection. Since his election to the House of Representatives in 1999 and his transition to the Senate in 2007, he has remained dedicated to the party's ideals," the statement read.

Senator Lawan traced his political journey from the All People's Party (APP), which later became the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP), a key party in the 2013 merger that formed the APC. He reaffirmed his support for the party’s leadership and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating his commitment to the government's policies and reforms aimed at national development.

The senator also commended Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for his leadership and governance efforts, pledging continued collaboration to advance the state’s progress.

Dismissing the rumors as the handiwork of "mischief-makers" seeking political distractions, Senator Lawan urged the public and APC supporters to disregard the misinformation.

He reiterated his dedication to his legislative duties and to supporting the APC-led government in delivering good governance and sustainable development across Nigeria.
