Hundreds of households across Dustinma and Kurfi Local Government Areas of Katsina State have received cash assistance of between N20,000 and N100,000 to compliment their daily expenses during the holy month of Ramadan.
The assistance was given by the Member Representing Dutsinma and Kurfi at the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Balele Dan Arewa.
The cash assistance is coming a week after the member distributed food items that include rice, maize, millet, spaghetti and other staple foods to residents in the two Local Government Areas.
Speaking to newsmen at one of the cash distribution points in Kurfi town, a member of the distribution committee, Babangida Abdullahi Kurfi, explained that the assistance was meant to ease Ramadan shopping for households.
Speaking on the variation in the amount given to each household, Babangida explained that the amount is based on the family's needs, economic status and size of the household.
"Here in Kurfi, the house-to-house cash assistance was distributed at Nasarawa, Gabas da Kasuwa, Kofar Arewa and Filin Daudu, and we will continue to distribute it until we cover all the target beneficiaries.
"This assistance will go a long way in easing the financial demands on these families during this holy month of Ramadan, this is why Alhaji Balele Kurfi has made it a tradition to carry out this gesture every Ramadan.
"This cash assistance is being distributed simultaneously in Dutsinma and Kurfi, there is another committee in Dustinma that is carrying out a similar activity.
"Prior to this cash assistance, the Honorable Member brought 3,000 bags of rice and 27,000 cartons of spaghetti which were also distributed here in Kurfi", Babangida Kurfi said.
Some beneficiaries that spoke on the gesture include Malama Salame and Muhammad Lawal who received N30,000 each.
Malama Salame said she will invest the money in her kuli-kuli business while Muhammad Lawal said the money will compliment his Ramadan expenses in Ramadan.
They expressed appreciation to the Hon. Aminu Balele Kurfi for the assistance and other programs and projects he has undertake in the constituency since he assumed office in 2023.
