FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Katsina State Chapter, joins the global community in celebrating the 2025 International Women's Day.
This year's theme, ‘For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment‘, resonates deeply with our organisation's mission.
As women journalists, we recognise the vital role our gender plays in shaping communities and societies hence we commend our struggles, achievements, and contributions worldwide, especially today, that was set aside to commemorate our laudable impact globally.
Katsina State, NAWOJ remains committed to promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and social justice which prompted us to over the past one year of the administration of the State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, viewed with thanks the invaluable contributions of women toward the socioeconomic development of our dear State, Katsina.
The Radda administration's deliberate inclusion of women in governance through strategic appointments to key positions is, indeed, a testament that women represent the backbone of our society and economy.
No doubt our resilience, dedication, and ingenuity continue to drive progress across all sectors.
The Governor administration resonated with our goal which was to ensure that every woman in Katsina state has the opportunity to achieve financial independence hence, there is a need for us (NAWOJ) to applaud the Radda administration's strong will in the last one year.
However, we want to use this unique day to advocate for governor Radda administration's stronger policies and programmes that support girl child education, economics and participation in decision-making processes and promote gender equality as well as continue to address violence against women.
Katsina NAWOJ also appeals to other organisations operating within the State to provide equal opportunities for women to attend higher positions irrespective of gender.
As women journalists, we pledge to amplify our voices through our stories to promote a culture of inclusivity at all levels.
Today and always, we celebrate women's doggedness in breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes. We should at all times remember that one love keeps us together, especially in decision-making processes.
Happy International Women's Day!
