Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in Nigeria's Senate, has taken Senate President Godswill Akpabio to court over alleged defamation.

In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, the senator accused Akpabio and his Special Assistant, Mfon Patrick, of making defamatory remarks against her.

She is seeking a court order compelling them to retract their statements, publish an apology in a national newspaper, and pay ₦100 billion in damages.

Her claims are based on a Facebook post allegedly made by Mfon Patrick, in which he reportedly stated that she "knows nothing about legislative proceedings" and criticized her choice of attire.

The legal battle follows last week’s heated exchange in the Senate chamber after Akpabio reassigned her seat, an action that sparked widespread reactions, particularly on social media.
