Bandits Kingpin Babaro Abducted Ex-NYSC DG  – Sources

A terrorist kingpin, Babaro, operating in Zango area of Kankara Local Government, Katsina State has been fingered as the mastermind behind the abduction of Ex-NYSC Director-General, Maharazu Ismaila Tsiga on February 6.

Babaro, a notorious bandit has spread his authority in Zango area of Kankara, imposing tax on residents as he continues to pillage their resources and livestock.

Sources said that Babaro might have worked in concert with another bandit, locally known by his nickname ‘Raba Aiki’, a younger brother of another notorious terrorist, Adamu Aleru.

A report by Katsina Times indicated that Tsiga, a retired Brigadier General, is being held at a terrorist location on the border between Kankara and Faskari LGA in Katsina State.

“In the course of our investigation we spoke to many sources, including some villagers released by the bandits after collecting a ransom of N30 million.

“They confirmed that Tsiga was held in the same camp with them in Bununu forest, and is being treated well unlike other victims,” the medium reported.

The prime suspect had once accepted a state pardon granted bandits who laid down their arms, but later reneged and took up arms.

Babaro is said to have many bandits, and carry out brazen raids of communities in Kankara and Faskari local government areas of KatsinaState, as well as parts of Zamfara State.

The Syndicate reports that the Ex-NYSC DG was abducted from his house in Tsiga village of Bakori local government together with nine other villagers.

The abductors are demanding for N250 million ransom.
