The All Progressives Congress (APC) held a grand rally to flag off its campaign for the leadership elections across Katsina State’s 34 local governments on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Ingawa Local Government Area. The event witnessed the defection of thousands of supporters from opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Accord Party, and others.
In his address at the rally, the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commended the former PDP chairman in Katsina State and his followers for joining the APC. He described the party as the largest and most progressive political force in Nigeria.
“This wave of defections is a clear testament that APC is the only party committed to internal democracy and the development and well-being of Nigerians,” Ganduje said. He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his transformative policies that are positively impacting the country.
Ganduje emphasized the importance of unity within the party, urging members to remain steadfast in upholding APC’s principles and vision of making Nigeria a prosperous nation.
Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, revealed in his speech that over 100,000 people from various opposition parties had defected to the APC. He attributed this development to the party’s good governance and dedication to improving the lives of citizens.
“Our state has become a home for APC due to the impactful projects we have implemented and will continue to execute,” Radda stated. “Today, Katsina stands united under APC, with leaders and stakeholders—including past and present governors, senators, and lawmakers—working together to achieve this goal.”
The governor assured the APC National Chairman that the party was fully prepared to win the upcoming elections. He expressed confidence in the support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to provide to APC candidates.
The rally further solidified the unity within the APC in Katsina State, with leaders reaffirming their commitment to the party’s vision. Speeches highlighted the party’s achievements and its readiness to tackle challenges to maintain its leadership position in the state.
The event concluded with prayers for the party’s success and the unity of its members as they gear up for the forthcoming elections.
