The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Katsina State has announced the passing away of one of its members, Alhaji Lawal Sa’idu Funtua.

Lawal Sa’idu Funtua died in the early hours of today (Thursday) in Katsina, after a protracted illness.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Chairman, Correspondent Chapel (NUJ), Katsina State, Yusuf Ibrahim, said, Lawal Funtua died at the age of 58, and left behind two wives, nine children and grandchildren.

The veteran journalist will be buried in his home town, Funtua by 2p.m.

He was a distinguished journalist, who served a two-term Chairman of the Katsina Correspondents’ Chapel.

He made significant contributions to the media industry during his life when he worked with the Katsina State Radio Service, Today, Leadership and Peoples Daily Newspapers, as well as, DITV Broadcast, among others.

Until his demise, he was the proprietor of the online media outfit Blue Ink.

May the Almighty Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his immediate family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear this great loss. Ameen.
