Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, through the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu'azu Danmusa, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating immorality and insecurity during the passing-out ceremony of 369 Hisbah Corps officers. The event, held in Katsina State, underscored the government’s efforts to strengthen morality and security across the state.
Dr. Danmusa described the inauguration as a milestone in Governor Radda’s vision for a safer and morally upright society. He commended the Hisbah Board, led by Con. Muhammad Ibrahim Daku (Rtd.), and acknowledged the collaboration of security agencies, community leaders, and local governments. The Commissioner announced plans to train 400 more Hisbah volunteers to expand the corps' reach in maintaining order.
He urged the new officers to exemplify discipline and integrity in combating social vices, such as drug abuse and prostitution, and called on parents and community leaders to report immoral activities for prompt action. The government also pledged monthly stipends to motivate Hisbah officers in their duties.
Representing Governor Radda, Katsina State Hisbah Commandant General Dr. Aminu Usman Abu Ammar highlighted the religious significance of the Hisbah initiative, emphasizing its alignment with Quranic teachings on enjoining good and forbidding evil.
“The Hisbah Corps reflects our collective will to uphold morality and justice. It is not just an institution but a divine obligation,” Dr. Abu Ammar remarked. He praised the administration's vision in establishing the corps and urged citizens to support its mission of societal decency and community cohesion. The Commandant called on the new officers to perform their duties with sincerity, describing their responsibilities as acts of worship.
In this remark, the Provost of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Training School Katsina, Babangida Dutsinma, applauded efforts by security stakeholders in tackling societal challenges. Reflecting on the transformation of the NSCDC from a voluntary group in 1987 to a pivotal government agency, Dutsinma emphasized the need for collective action to combat drug abuse and other vices undermining societal values.
“Katsina State has always been a center of religion and philosophy. With collective effort, we will restore its legacy,” he stated, expressing gratitude to security agencies and instructors for their contributions to the program.
These events reinforce Governor Radda’s administration's dedication to promoting security, morality, and community-driven development in Katsina State. With ongoing support for Hisbah Corps and security institutions, the state is on a transformative path toward a safer and more prosperous future.
