SWAN Inaugurates New Leadership in Katsina State

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Katsina State chapter, has inaugurated its newly elected executive members.  

The swearing-in ceremony took place on January 1, 2025, at the Katsina State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat. The event was presided over by Barrister Umar Kabir Darma, who administered the oath of office to the new executives.  

In his remarks shortly after the ceremony, the NUJ Katsina State Chairman, Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali, charged the new SWAN leadership to demonstrate commitment and diligence during their three-year tenure. He urged them to set a high standard of professionalism and serve as role models for future leaders.  

Comrade Dan Ali also lauded the outgoing chairman, Abdullahi Muhammad Tanko, for his exemplary leadership over the past three years, noting that his tenure was free of controversies and marked by steady progress.  

He assured the association of unwavering support from the NUJ and pledged to collaborate with SWAN in advancing Katsina State’s profile in sports journalism, not only within the state or northern Nigeria but across the country.  

The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent personalities, including the National President of SWAN, Isaiah Benjamin, represented by Malam Ibrahim Malikawa of the National Sports Commission; the Secretary of Katsina United Football Club, Malam Mas'udu; a representative of the Katsina State Sports Commission Director, Malam Yusuf Lawal; and the Chairman of AA Rahamawa Company, Aminu Ahmed Wali, among others.  

The event marked a significant milestone for sports journalism in Katsina State, with the new leadership poised to build on the solid foundation laid by their predecessors while striving for excellence in sports reporting.
