The Director General of the Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA), retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi, has praised the growing adherence to traffic regulations among residents of Katsina State, particularly vehicle owners. Speaking exclusively to *KatsinaTimes* on Wednesday, Major Rimi highlighted the positive shift in public behavior, attributing it to the agency's dedicated efforts in awareness campaigns.

“Initially, there was widespread disregard for traffic laws, which are crucial for protecting lives and property. However, through consistent public sensitization, we are witnessing a significant change as more people recognize the importance of these regulations,” Major Rimi said.

He disclosed that community members in certain areas have taken a proactive role in supporting the enforcement of traffic rules, even going as far as cautioning violators themselves. Additionally, residents have begun inviting KASSAROTA officials to supervise traffic regulations, especially on newly constructed or rehabilitated roads.

Reassuring vehicle owners, Major Rimi emphasized that the agency’s policies are not punitive but rather aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring efficient road usage. “We are not here to oppress anyone. Our goal is to encourage voluntary compliance with traffic laws for the greater good,” he explained.

He called on all road users, including drivers and pedestrians, to maintain their commitment to obeying traffic rules, stressing that such actions would reduce accidents and improve transportation within the state.

“With continuous adherence to these laws, we can avoid unnecessary incidents and foster peace and safety for everyone on our roads,” he concluded.

This development underscores KASSAROTA’s role in fostering a culture of responsibility and safety among Katsina residents, paving the way for safer roadways across the state.
