Saturday 21st September, 2024, will remain a memorable day in the history of Katsina Emirate and, to a large extent, Katsina State itself. It was the day the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji AbdulMumini Kabir Usman, CFR, turbaned three illustrious sons of Katsina State with prestigious titles in the Emirate.

Alhaji Faruk Jobe, the state Deputy Governor was turbanned 'Sarkin Fulanin Jobe Katsina' while Malam Jabiru Abdullahi Salisu Tsauri, the Chief of Staff, Government House Katsina, was turbanned 'Lamidon Katsina'. Similarly, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad, Talban Musawa, the House of Representatives Member Representing Musawa/Matazu federal Constituency, was turbanned 'Dujiman Katsina'.
On that day, all roads led to Katsina which was a gog with guests from different parts of the country to grace the very colourful event which was marked with flutes, drums and praise singing by palace guards at the Kofar Soro Palace of Sarkin Katsina.

Guests included federal and state government functionaries, federal and state lawmakers, representatives of state governments and Emirate Councils from the Northwest zone and beyond, business moguls, captains of industry and other high-networth individuals from far and near.

However, it was no surprise that the occasion attracted these dignitaries, considering the caliber of the people that were turbaned.
Mallam Faruk Jobe has been a successful banker, politician, and public servant who had rose through the ranks as a banker, before joining politics where he played various roles at different levels.

He also served a Special Adviser, Banking and Finance to Katsina State Governor during the Masari administration and later as Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning in the state, before stepping into his current portfolio of Deputy Governor,  Katsina State.

On his part, Lamidon Katsina, Malam Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri has been famed for his excellent educational career in International Relations and Diplomacy up to Master's Degree level. He also took various computer proficiency courses and seminars, workshops and trainings in administration and legislation.
In the civil service, he rose from his first post as a classroom teacher to occupy administrative roles, them engaged in several private enterprises and community development projects.

His active career in the public service started with his appointment as Special Assistant to the Senate Committee Chairman on Rules and Business, then Special Assistant to the Senate Committee Chairman on Defence and Army. He also served as Special Adviser to the Senate President from 2011 to 2015.

Jabiru Tsauri also served as the Sole Administrator of Kurfi Local Government Council of Katsina State in 2018, a role which further pronounced his leadership qualities.

Also worthy of note is that Mallam Jabiru Tsauri served as the Deputy Director-General of the Tinubu/Dikko Campaign Council in the run-up to the 2023 general elections, a position in which he served so well by campaigning vigorously for the flag bearers of APC in the elections, particularly his long time friend and associate, Malam Dikko Umar Radda.

Meanwhile Tsauri had, over a decade ago, founded his pet project to give back to the society, in form of a foundation which had changed nomenclature to become 'Lamido Foundation'. It is a philanthropic organization that intervenes in education, healthcare and several other areas of need in the benefiting communities.

Prior to his turbaning as Lamidon Katsina, Alhaji Jabiru Tsauri organized series of activities which include recitation of the complete Quran, Quranic recitation competition, donation of school uniforms and medical outreach by the Lamido Foundation in Tsauri community, and a novelty football match.

On his part, Dujiman Katsina, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad is a native of Musawa who has used his private enterprise and public service career to donate generously to philanthropic gestures and projects in his community which made him popular among his people.

This was demonstrated by his election into the Federal House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections to represent Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency. Since then he has touched the lives of his constituents in very special ways.

No doubt, the turbaning of these three hardworking and committed public servants with befitting traditional titles by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, is a gesture well deserved.
